New development around water and LCA: AWARE 2.0 and MarILCA new factors for microplastic emissions impacts

The session will first provide a reminder overview of the AWARE methodology for water scarcity footprint, followed by the presentation of the newly updated AWARE 2.0, covering all data updates and calculation optimization included in the update. Results are provided and discussed in light of the previous version and of the main sources of differences. Lastly, an update will be given presenting the latest developments of the MarILCA working group on characterization factors for microplastics emissions of 11 polymers, 3 shapes and 3 sizes, and the findings from the different modelling steps on the importance of considering impacts and the variation among microparticles characteristics.
