Michele Wallace leads sustainability standards development with a background in textile chemistry and certification as a life cycle assessment professional. Michele has been involved with life cycle assessment since Cotton Incorporated began the first global LCA of cotton fiber and fabric in 2010. She represents Cotton Incorporated in sustainability standards efforts including the Apparel & Footwear Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) Technical Secretariat, ASTM International, ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and AATCC (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists). She is co-chair the ANSI-accredited U.S. Technical Advisory Group for ISO/TC323 on Circular Economy and led the U.S. delegation at the last plenary meeting. Michele serves as co-chair of the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment (ACLCA) Industry Committee and is Cotton Incorporated’s representative to the ACLCA Board of Directors. In 2022, Michele was recognized with the Corporate LCA Leadership Award. Michele has been at Cotton Incorporated since 1998. She earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from North Carolina State University.
